Praetorian Palace of Campiglia Marittima

Praetorian Palace of Campiglia Marittima

The Praetorian Palace, the 13th-century residence of the Captain of Justice, now houses the Historical Archive of the Municipality of Campiglia Marittima, the Children’s Library, the Mineral Museum, an art gallery with the works of Carlo Guarnieri, and a ground floor space for ceremonies and conferences.
The main façade still bears the numerous coats of arms of the Captains who governed on behalf of Florence between the 15th and 17th centuries.
The tower, robust and imposing, displays a large clock and bell marking the passing of the hours. For wine enthusiasts, the Palazzo is an information point and promotion centre for the Strada del Vino Costa degli Etruschi.
