The church of San Michele in Bevagna was built in 1070 on the site of a very ancient oratory by the master builders Binello and Rodolfo, whose names are mentioned in an inscription at the entrance. The façade was constructed from travertine blocks at the beginning of the 13th century, with reworked Roman material being reused in the portal’s decorations. The outer arch is decorated with Cosmatesque mosaics. The spired bell tower is Gothic. The church has a basilica-style plan with three naves and a raised apse-backed choir above the crypt.
