A pink and white carpet. Those are the colors of the flowering of the apple orchards that dot the territory of Lana, in the province of Bolzano. It is a landscape that in spring is pervaded by a sweet fragrance - Lana is the largest European country by extension of apple orchards -, while the foliage of the trees are covered with a bright green and the water courses gurgle foaming for the abundance of water that comes from melting snow. Located in the heart of the Adige Valley, Lana and its surroundings enjoy a privileged position, both from a climatic and a hiking point of view, and the vegetation - a characteristic mix of Mediterranean and Alpine plants - thrives. The climate is also ideal for the orchids of the Raffeiner Orchideenwelt, a small tropical oasis based in Gargazzone, near Lana. It is a unique theme park throughout Europe because of the more than thirty thousand varieties of orchids have been selected one hundred and fifty, based on the particularity. The park also houses an aviary with Lori parrots, hundreds of Koi carp swimming in the pond together with turtles and a playground for children. Moreover, the entire territory is the ideal starting point for countless excursions to discover South Tyrol. The possibilities are numerous: from the walk of the Lana gorge along the Valsura mountain stream to the easy themed trails and along the ancient irrigation ditches and it is a good idea to go and discover Kastelruth, Klausen and Salurn. Three villages that preserve all the South Tyrolean charm, an elixir of folklore, flavors and traditions.
