Arlèo IGT Rosso Verona 2018
An elegant, full-bodied red wine with notes of red berries
Description
Arlèo IGT Rosso Verona 2018 is a superb red wine from Verona that elegantly and characterfully embodies the winemaking heritage of the hills of the province of Verona. Crafted from a careful selection of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and other indigenous red grape varieties, it expresses extraordinary aromatic complexity and a substantial structure, whilst maintaining balance and finesse.
Extended ageing in Slavonian oak barrels and French oak tonneaux lends depth, harmony and a refined aromatic development, making Arlèo a wine destined to delight even after many years of cellaring.
Ageing
36 months in:
- 20–30 hl Slavonian oak barrels
- 500-litre French oak tonneaux
The wine then rests for at least 6 months in the bottle, achieving a perfect balance between structure, elegance and aromatic complexity.
Tasting Notes
Visually, it presents an intense brilliant ruby red, enhanced by a lively garnet rim that foreshadows its evolution and complexity.
The bouquet is broad, refined and surprisingly complex. Elegant notes of dried flower potpourri, dried figs and walnut kernels emerge, accompanied by hints of undergrowth, humus, mushrooms, graphite and light iron-like nuances. The finish offers pleasant sensations of raspberry and wild strawberries.
On the palate, it displays a substantial and perfectly balanced structure. The tannins are ripe, silky and enveloping, supported by a vibrant citrus freshness that lends vigour and depth. The finish reveals elegant notes of bitter cocoa and cinchona bark, accompanying a very long finish.
