At Ratschings, water does more than just shape the landscape: it moves the emotions, stimulates the senses and invites discovery. Here, water roars through gorges, murmurs through forests and regenerates body and mind. Between wild canyons, spectacular waterfalls and thematic trails that are also suitable for families, water becomes nature, adventure and relaxation at the same time.
Stanghe Falls: water sculpts white marble
There are places where nature becomes more spectacular, more intense and above all unforgettable. Stanghe Falls is the perfect example. Considered one of the most fascinating natural wonders in South Tyrol, it impresses from the very first step.
Just a few minutes from the village of Stanghe, a path leads inside a unique gorge where the Ratschings stream has been carving the walls of rare white marble for millennia. This geological spectacle is made accessible thanks to wooden footbridges, small bridges and sections carved into the rock, making it possible to walk safely surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
The walk takes about an hour and is suitable for everyone: families, couples and solo travelers. Between light and shadow, smooth rocks and splashing water, each step gives a new emotion, each glimpse is an indelible photograph in the memory.
Here, the real protagonist is water: alive, pulsating, tireless in its sculpting work. To cross the Stanghe Gorge is to touch the power of nature.

Hidden Water Worlds: Silent, wild and mysterious
Oltre alla celebre Stanghe Falls, Ratschings holds other water places all waiting to be discovered.
In Val Giovo, along the path to the Bergalm, you will come across the Gurgl Waterfall, which descends powerfully between the rocks, a corner of stillness and strength, perfect for a scenic stop.
In the Ridanna Valley, along the trail to the Aglsboden alpine hut, the Burkhard Gorge winds through a narrow and striking rocky landscape. Wooden boardwalks follow the rushing course of the water, providing a cool and adventurous hike on summer days.

A very special atmosphere gives instead the Pfeifer Huisele Gorge, enveloped in a fairy-tale atmosphere among mosses, rocks and local legends. A new viewing platform allows you to look out into the gorge safely, before continuing on to the Klammalm or climbing to the peaks of the Cima Piccola and Cima Grande of Monte Croce.
Water experiences for the whole family
In Ratschings, nature can also be experienced in a playful and child-friendly way. Three special places invite families to discover water with all their senses:
–Rio Mareta is a paradise for little explorers. Here you can splash around, build dams and play with stones, a natural playground surrounded by greenery.
-The barefoot trail with Kneipp facility, in Racines di Dentro, combines wellness, exercise and fun. Walking barefoot on moss and earth, dipping your feet in the cool water of streams: a direct and rejuvenating experience.
-The Water and Forest Trail in Mareta is a short thematic trail with interactive stations. It runs through the forest, follows a stream and leads to Wolfsthurn Castle, next to a pond populated by fish, frogs and other small creatures.
