Event description
This event ended on 21 June 2026.
On 20 and 21 June 2026, Tuoro sul Trasimeno will step back in time with ‘Tuoro 217 BC’, an event dedicated to the historical re-enactment of the famous Battle of Trasimeno, one of the most significant episodes of the Second Punic War.
For two days, the area will be transformed into a vast space for historical storytelling and cultural outreach, transporting visitors and enthusiasts back to the era of the clash between the Roman army and the troops led by Hannibal.
New areas of the village will host historical encampments, re-enactors in costume, educational activities and in-depth sessions dedicated to military and daily life in the 3rd century BC, offering an immersive experience combining history and entertainment.
The event offers a chance to rediscover the context of the Battle of Trasimeno, fought on 21 June 217 BC along the shores of Lake Trasimeno, considered one of the greatest military ambushes of antiquity.
Through demonstrations, historical re-enactments and cultural initiatives, Tuoro 217 BC takes the public on a journey into the past that combines education, tradition and the promotion of the Umbrian region.
The event thus proves to be a highlight capable of attracting history enthusiasts, families and visitors keen to enjoy an authentic experience blending historical memory with the charm of re-enactment.
