Hispellvm 2026

From 27 to 30 August 2026, Spello will once again come alive with the charm of ancient Rome through Hispellvm, the major historical re-enactment dedicated to the Roman era and the reign of Constantine the Great.

For four days, the Umbrian village will be transformed into an authentic Roman camp, bringing to life the atmosphere, traditions and rituals of the ancient imperial civilisation through meticulously detailed historical re-enactments.

The streets of the historic centre will host scenes of everyday Roman life, artisan workshops, historic markets and demonstrations of ancient crafts, offering visitors a complete immersion in the world of late antiquity.

Ample space will be dedicated to shows and gladiatorial games, featuring spectacular fights, military demonstrations and re-enactments that evoke the atmosphere of ancient imperial arenas.

Alongside the performances, Hispellvm will also feature religious and civil rituals reconstructed according to historical sources, tours dedicated to Roman cuisine with tastings inspired by recipes of the era, and cultural talks on the Roman world.

The event is one of the most evocative highlights of the Umbrian summer, successfully combining historical education, entertainment and the promotion of Spello’s cultural heritage.
