Medieval Dinner and Astronomy Evening at Radicofani Fortress

📅 26 July 2026

Event description

On 26 July 2026, the picturesque Radicofani Fortress, in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, is hosting a special evening combining history, gastronomy and stargazing. Medieval Dinner and Astronomy Evening is an experience designed to let you discover one of Tuscany’s most iconic sites in a unique atmosphere, within the ancient walls of the fortress overlooking the UNESCO World Heritage landscape.

The evening begins with a dinner inspired by traditional Tuscan flavours, served inside the fortress. The menu includes pici with white Chianina ragù, grilled meat with salad, a house dessert accompanied by medieval hippocras, as well as water, wine and coffee. A gastronomic journey that evokes the region’s cuisine and ancient medieval traditions.

After dinner, participants will be taken on a fascinating journey through history and astronomy. The first part offers an introduction to the evolution of astronomical thought, from prehistoric times right up to Galileo Galilei. The evening then continues with an in-depth look at modern astronomy and a guided stargazing session through a telescope, to admire stars, constellations and planets under one of the clearest skies in the Val d’Orcia.

The event offers a unique opportunity to visit the Fortress of Radicofani, one of Tuscany’s most fascinating castles, and to enjoy an experience that blends culture, popular science and authentic flavours. An ideal event for families, couples and enthusiasts of history and astronomy who wish to spend an unforgettable evening in a setting of extraordinary beauty. Booking essential
