Mercantia 2025

From July 16 to 2025, the charming medieval village of Certaldo will once again be transformed into an open-air stage with Mercantia, Italy’s largest festival dedicated to “fourth theater,” an immersive experience that blends performing arts and urban poetry.

Born in 1988 under the artistic direction of Alessandro Gigli, Mercantia is now an international benchmark for street theater. More than 100 artists and 40 companies from around the world will enliven alleys, squares, crypts and gardens of Boccaccio’s city with:

-dance performances and live music

-juggling, balancing and circus arts performances

-traveling installations and performances

-exhibitions of arts and crafts and unique creations

Every corner of Certaldo Alta becomes a scene, a dream, a vision-a feast for all the senses where wonder and imagination meet under the Tuscan stars.
