Hispellum 2025

From August 17-24, 2025, the charming town of Spello will return to the era of ancient Rome thanks to HISPELLVM, one of Umbria’s most fascinating historical reenactments. For seven days, among the stones and monuments of the Splendidissima Colonia Iulia, a true portal to the past will open, giving visitors a total immersion in the daily life, pomp and rituals of Roman civilization.

The event, eagerly awaited every year by enthusiasts and tourists alike, offers a full calendar of events ranging from grand historical processions to sacred celebrations, from ludi and shows to historical dinners in the tabernae, where people can enjoy dishes inspired by the cuisine of the time. But Hispellum is also culture: lectures, exhibitions, workshops, guided walks and immersive experiences enrich the program, involving young and old in an exciting journey through history and entertainment.

Amidst squares enlivened by Roman markets, ancient religious rituals, and the majesty of archaeological remains that testify to the importance of the city in imperial times, Spello is transformed into a large open-air theater, where the customs and traditions of the Hispellates, the ancient inhabitants of the area, come to life.
