Palio della Brocca 2026
Event description
From 27 to 30 August and from 3 to 6 September 2026, Deruta – renowned worldwide for its historic production of artistic ceramics – will once again host the Palio della Brocca, the major event that brings the historic centre to life with competitions, performances, traditions and the flavours of Umbria. Now in its 18th edition, the event involves the town’s three districts – Piazza, Valle and Borgo – in a thrilling contest that celebrates the community’s history and identity.
The heart of the event is Piazza dei Consoli, where the main competitions and most eagerly awaited events take place. For over a week, the town is transformed into a vast open-air stage, with parades, shows, music and activities that bring the charm of the town’s ancient rivalries back to life.
The competitions between the districts alternate with a packed programme of evening events, offering visitors an experience that combines historical re-enactment, entertainment and public participation. Each evening is enlivened by concerts, shows and festive celebrations that bring residents and tourists together in an atmosphere of genuine conviviality.
Local cuisine also takes centre stage, thanks to the traditional ‘Locande dei Rioni’, which are open every evening during the event. Here, you can sample typical Umbrian dishes, regional specialities and local produce, whilst soaking up the welcoming atmosphere that characterises the Palio.
The Palio della Brocca is one of the most important events of the summer in Deruta, a perfect opportunity to visit the city of ceramics, stroll through its artisan workshops and immerse yourself in a festival that combines history, traditions and a sense of community.
