The Desmontegada de le Caore 2026
Event description
The Desmontegada de le Caore is one of the most authentic and evocative festivals in the Fiemme Valley, an event that celebrates the return of the goats from the mountain pastures and reflects an ancient ritual that remains deeply rooted in mountain culture.
In September, Cavalese comes alive for a whole weekend of events, experiences and traditions, culminating in the characteristic Sunday parade, when farmers and goats wind their way through the town centre amidst music, colours and folklore. An exciting moment that symbolically marks the end of the summer season in the mountains and the return to life in the valley.
But the Desmontegada is much more than a parade: it is an immersive journey through Alpine flavours, knowledge and traditions. During the event, the village hosts tastings, workshops, visits to barns and mountain huts, meetings with farmers and opportunities to discover the world of the mountain pastures. The stories of those who live in the mountains every day make the experience even more authentic and engaging.
Local cuisine also takes centre stage, with the “Magnifici Prodotti di Fiemme” event, which offers themed dishes and set menus throughout the week at participating restaurants and farm stays. Goat’s cheese, meats, cured meats and local specialities are paired with local wines, beers and grappas, offering a complete culinary experience.
The programme also includes nature walks, high-altitude aperitifs, travelling shows, craft markets and activities for children, creating a festive atmosphere suitable for all ages. Not to be missed is the curious tradition of awarding prizes for the most beautiful goat and the finest horns, a symbolic and entertaining moment that involves the whole community.
La Desmontegada de le Caore is an event that combines tradition, flavour and community spirit, offering the chance to experience the mountains in an authentic way and rediscover the deep bond between people, animals and the land.
