On 10 May 2026, Camogli will once again celebrate one of Liguria’s most iconic events: the Feast of San Fortunato and the historic Fish Festival, a tradition rooted in the village’s seafaring past which attracts thousands of visitors every year with its colours, scents and flavours of the sea.

To fully experience the atmosphere of Camogli, the ideal time is the weekend of 9 and 10 May, when the town comes alive with the most eagerly awaited events of the year. Saturday is dedicated to the Feast of San Fortunato, patron saint of fishermen, featuring the thrilling fireworks display that lights up the Golfo Paradiso and the evocative bonfires in the Porto and Pinetto districts – large wooden structures built by the locals and set alight in a spectacular display that warms the Camogli night.

On Sunday, however, the festivities move to the lively Piazza Colombo, by the marina. Here, the 74th edition of the Sagra del Pesce takes place, organised by Pro Loco Camogli, with the undisputed star of the show: the giant frying pan, the largest in the world, capable of frying hundreds of kilos of blue fish in just a few hours. The air is filled with the scent of the sea and fried fish, whilst volunteers and fishermen serve thousands of portions to visitors, in an atmosphere of genuine, popular celebration.

All this takes place against the unique backdrop of Camogli, nicknamed the ‘City of a Thousand White Sailing Ships’. A title that speaks to the deep bond between the village and the sea: from a simple fishing settlement, Camogli became a maritime power in the 19th century, boasting over 700 sailing ships that plied the world’s routes, a symbol of a proud and unforgettable history.

Today, the Sagra del Pesce is much more than a gastronomic event: it is a celebration of memory, a collective ritual that unites tradition, community and maritime culture in one of Liguria’s most charming villages.

In Camogli, every May, the sea tells its story.
