DeMusicAssisi 2026

📅 4 August 2026 – 9 August 2026

Event description

From 4 to 9 August 2026, Assisi will host the fourth edition of DeMusicAssisi, the festival dedicated to medieval music that transforms the historic centre into a fascinating journey through the art, spirituality and culture of the Franciscan Middle Ages.

Organised by the Municipality of Assisi under the artistic direction of the Resonars Academy of Ancient Arts, the event features concerts, lectures, seminars and exhibitions in various locations throughout the town, creating an immersive experience combining ancient sounds with sites of extraordinary historical significance.

The 2026 edition, entitled “Gloriosus Franciscus”, will be dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi and will explore the relationship between Franciscanism and music between the 13th and 15th centuries.

The festival will take the audience on a cultural journey that begins in Assisi and medieval Umbria, before branching out to explore influences from Northern Europe and the Middle East, delving into themes deeply rooted in the Franciscan worldview: poverty, devotion, liturgy, celebration, encounter with the other, sacred and profane love, and the relationship with death.

Alongside concerts of medieval music performed by specialist artists and musicians, the programme will include workshops, talks and conferences led by scholars and experts in medieval arts, offering a unique cultural experience.

DeMusicAssisi thus confirms its status as one of the most evocative events of the Umbrian summer, successfully combining artistic research, spirituality and the celebration of Assisi’s historical heritage.
