Ancient Fair of San Simeone

The Ancient Fair of San Simeone is one of Marostica’s most heartfelt and popular events, held every year on the last Sunday of October to celebrate the patron saint and symbolically give thanks for the end of the agricultural season. The event combines spirituality, folklore, gastronomy and folk tradition in an authentic and engaging atmosphere.

The day opens with Holy Mass and the evocative rite of the blessing of autumn fruits and tractors, testifying to the deep connection between the community and the land. Throughout the day, the streets of the center – from Campo Marzio to the Piazza degli Scacchi, passing through the environs of the Lower Castle – come alive with traditional rides, folk games, street performers and an exhibition-market of typical local agricultural products.

The most awaited moment is the famous Tombola in the Square, a real collective feast, with numbers marked by a traditional stage and the warm participation of inhabitants and visitors. A simple but meaningful ritual that has been strengthening the sense of community for generations.

Taste cannot be missed: the undisputed protagonist is the goose spit, prepared and served at the moment in the square, accompanied by Marzemino wine, in homage to the Veneto wine and food tradition. Promoting this specialty are local restaurateurs, thanks to the “Oca e Marzemin” festival, which has been enhancing authentic flavors and gourmet reinterpretations since 2012.

The Ancient Fair of San Simeone is therefore much more than just a market: it is a journey into Veneto’s rural culture, an occasion for celebration and sharing that interweaves faith, flavors and memory.
