Festival of St Bartholomew
Event description
From 22 to 24 August 2026, Monzambano, in the heart of the Mantua morainic hills, celebrates its patron saint with the traditional Festival of St Bartholomew, a festival that has been one of the most cherished events for the local community for generations.
For three days, the village comes alive with a packed programme of events dedicated to conviviality, gastronomy and local traditions, offering visitors the chance to experience the authentic atmosphere of Mantua’s patron saint festivals.
The star of the show will be the food stall, where visitors can sample the most representative dishes of the local cuisine, prepared in the traditional way. Every morning, from 7.30 am, the customary ‘trippe in piazza’ (tripe in the square) returns – a much-loved tradition that attracts both residents and visitors.
There will be no shortage of wines from the Monzambano wineries, showcasing the finest wines of the Colli Morenici Mantovani, alongside beers, cocktails and other drinks to accompany the culinary specialities throughout the festival.
The programme will be enriched by concerts and live music throughout the three evenings, creating a festive atmosphere in the village streets. The markets will offer handcrafted goods and local specialities, whilst the children’s area will allow families to enjoy moments of leisure and fun.
The Festival of St Bartholomew is an important gathering for the community of Monzambano, which every year revives a tradition deeply rooted in the town’s history, celebrating its patron saint through moments of togetherness, culture and hospitality.
Taking part in the festival also means discovering one of the most picturesque villages in the Mantua area, strolling through its historic streets and marvelling at the scenery of the morainic hills, just a few kilometres from Lake Garda.
With authentic flavours, music, fine wine and folk traditions, the 2026 Festival of St Bartholomew is set to be an unmissable event for experiencing summer in the heart of the most authentic Lombardy.
