Borgio Verezzi Theatre Festival

📅 8 July 2026 – 13 August 2026

From 8 July to 13 August 2026, the Borgio Verezzi Theatre Festival returns, celebrating its prestigious 60th edition and reaffirming its status as one of the most important events dedicated to Italian theatre. For over a month, this picturesque Ligurian village will become a vast open-air stage, where performances, emotions and culture will blend with one of the most captivating views of the Riviera di Ponente.

Founded in 1967 on the initiative of Enrico Rembado, the long-serving mayor of Borgio Verezzi, the Festival is now one of the symbols of Liguria’s cultural identity and attracts thousands of spectators from all over Italy every summer. Its defining feature is the extraordinary fusion of theatre and landscape: the performances come to life in unique settings that transform every show into a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

At the heart of the event remains the splendid Piazza Sant’Agostino, a true natural theatre nestled amongst the village’s ancient stone houses and overlooking the sea. For the 2026 edition, the festival will also expand to other charming venues, such as the 16th-century tower overlooking Verezzi, the 18th-century Piazza San Pietro, the modern Teatro Gassman and the spectacular Valdemino Caves, offering the public a theatrical journey that showcases the region’s entire historical and scenic heritage.

The programme for the 60th edition will be dedicated to the themes of Time, Magic and Enchantment, offering a line-up that combines great classics, comedies, new productions and contemporary works. The performances, all scheduled for 9.30 pm, will feature leading figures from the Italian theatre scene alongside new companies and emerging playwrights, keeping alive the dialogue between tradition and innovation that has always characterised the festival.

Each evening will offer much more than just a theatre performance: attending a show under the summer sky of Borgio Verezzi means enjoying an immersive experience, where the charm of the ancient stone buildings, the scent of the sea and the moonlight become an integral part of the scene.

The Borgio Verezzi Theatre Festival also offers a wonderful opportunity to discover one of Liguria’s most beautiful villages, strolling through its narrow alleyways, visiting the Valdemino Caves and savouring the local cuisine and the splendid views overlooking the Ligurian Sea.

Combining culture, emotion and natural scenery unique in the world, the Borgio Verezzi Theatre Festival continues to be one of the defining events of the Italian summer, offering audiences sixty years of history, art and entertainment in one of the most enchanting spots on the Riviera.
