Narni Città Teatro
Event description
From 11 to 13 September 2026, Narni Città Teatro returns – the festival that each year transforms the historic centre of Narni into a vast, open-air stage dedicated to the performing arts, culture and contemporary reflection. Now in its latest edition, the 2026 event takes as its theme ‘States of Humanity’, an invitation to explore the many facets of the human experience through theatre and the performing arts.
For three days, the Umbrian town will be transformed into a veritable theatre of wonders, where squares, alleyways, historic buildings, cloisters and urban spaces will host shows, performances, talks and art installations. Narni will thus become a meeting place for artists and audiences, offering immersive and engaging experiences in one of central Italy’s most charming towns.
Narni Città Teatro stands out for its ability to take theatre beyond conventional venues, creating an ongoing dialogue between art, architecture and the community. Each performance finds a special setting within the urban fabric, showcasing the views, monuments and atmospheres that make Narni’s historic centre unique.
The theme ‘States of Humanity’ will guide the programme for the 2026 edition through stories, performances and artistic expressions that explore the relationships, emotions, vulnerabilities and transformations that characterise our times. Theatre, dance, music, storytelling and contemporary experimentation will intertwine in a cultural programme open to audiences of all ages.
Alongside the performances, the festival will offer opportunities for deeper engagement, meetings with artists, workshops and forums for discussion, allowing visitors to experience the event not merely as spectators, but as active participants in a shared experience.
One of the most appreciated aspects of Narni Città Teatro is its ability to create a participatory and welcoming atmosphere, in which the whole town takes centre stage. During the festival, the streets come alive with artistic installations and performances that surprise the public and transform a visit to the town into a journey between imagination and reality.
Combining culture, emotion and beauty, Narni Città Teatro is one of the most original events on the Italian theatre scene. Three days in which art and the local area come together to create a unique experience, capable of portraying the present through the evocative power of live performance.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Narni, the festival thus proves to be the perfect finale to Umbria’s cultural summer, an event that attracts audiences, artists and enthusiasts from all over Italy every year.
