Medieval Festival

One of the most eagerly awaited historical events of the summer in Campania returns to the charming village of Vairano Patenora: the 30th edition of the Medieval Festival, organised by the local Pro Loco association. On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August 2026, the historic centre will be transformed into an authentic medieval village, transporting visitors and onlookers back in time with performances, traditional flavours and the atmosphere of days gone by.

Considered one of the most charming medieval villages in Campania, Vairano Patenora will offer an immersive journey into the Middle Ages over two evenings, amidst stone-paved alleys, torch-lit squares and travelling performers ready to bring the village streets to life.

The festival will kick off on Saturday 8 August at 7.00 pm with the official opening of the stalls and the medieval trail. Throughout the evening, there will be performances by minstrels, jugglers, fire-eaters, archers and flag-wavers, creating spectacular and captivating scenes. The event will also feature craft markets and food stalls where visitors can sample local specialities and dishes inspired by local traditions.

On Sunday 9 August, from 6 pm, the village will come alive once again with a new series of medieval shows and performances. The streets of the historic centre will once again be filled with artists, performers and historical groups, who will help to create a unique and evocative atmosphere that will captivate both adults and children.

The Vairano Patenora Medieval Festival has now become a well-established tradition in the area, an event that attracts visitors from all over Campania and beyond every year. Thanks to the passion of the Pro Loco and its volunteers, the village is able to relive the charm of its medieval past through performances, culture, music and gastronomy.
