Parade of Floats

On 1 August 2026, the traditional Parade of Floats returns to Frosolone for its 48th edition, one of the most original and heartfelt events of the Molisan summer. An event that combines folklore, religious tradition and a sense of community, transforming the village streets into a grand open-air spectacle for one evening.

Unlike classic carnival parades, Frosolone’s takes place in the heart of summer and is a tradition deeply linked to the rite of the ‘Perdonanza’, a religious celebration held dear by the local community. Since the 1970s, the village’s inhabitants have been crafting handmade allegorical floats that depict historical episodes, scenes from daily life and figures linked to the village’s past and identity.

The day of 1 August will begin in the afternoon with the religious programme at the church of San Rocco, situated at the entrance to the village. From 4.00 pm, there will be the penitential service, Holy Mass, the procession and the traditional “passate” which form part of the Perdonanza ritual.

At around 6.00 pm, the spectacular parade of floats will begin, setting off from Corso Vittorio Emanuele and ending in Piazza Alessandro Volta. The floats, crafted with great dedication by the local community, will wind their way through the historic centre, bringing a burst of colour, music and scenes brimming with humour and tradition.

Once the parade is over, it’s time to savour the local flavours with the famous festival of salt cod and peppers, the festival’s signature dish, accompanied by music, entertainment and activities for all ages. The evening will conclude with the award ceremony for the best floats right in the square.

The Frosolone Float Parade is a unique event of its kind, capable of surprising visitors with a summer carnival immersed in the fresh, authentic atmosphere of one of Molise’s most characteristic mountain villages.
