Relive the Middle Ages
Event description
On 12 and 13 September 2026, Castell’Arquato will step back in time with ‘Relive the Middle Ages’, a major event dedicated to medieval historical re-enactment at the foot of the picturesque Rocca Viscontea.
For a whole weekend, the Parco Lungo Arda will be transformed into an authentic medieval camp, bringing to life the atmosphere, performances and traditions of the 14th century in the very place where the Visconti camped in 1316 during their conquest of the village.
Organised by the Gens Innominabilis association, the event will offer a packed programme of performances featuring musicians, jesters, fire-eaters and costumed re-enactors, engaging visitors and families in an immersive experience blending history and entertainment.
The highlight of the event will be the grand armoured sword tournament, featuring combatants from across Europe competing in spectacular duels inspired by medieval fighting techniques.
Alongside the re-enactments, there will be taverns and areas dedicated to medieval cuisine, where visitors can sample dishes and flavours inspired by historical tradition.
‘Relive the Middle Ages’ thus offers a special opportunity to discover the charm of Castell’Arquato through history, entertainment and medieval culture, in one of the most picturesque historic villages in Emilia-Romagna.
