La Valle del Gigante Bianco 2026
Event description
This event ended on 7 June 2026.
From 29 May to 7 June 2026 in Bettolle La Valle del Gigante Bianco returns, the major event dedicated to the Chianina breed, a historic symbol of the Valdichiana and the undisputed star of the local culinary tradition.
Now in its 21st edition, the festival celebrates the famous Vitellone Bianco dell’Appennino Centrale IGP through a packed programme of events combining rural culture, cuisine, entertainment, sport and folk traditions.
The event also pays tribute to Professor Ezio Marchi, born in Bettolle, a zoologist whose studies contributed to the definition of the modern Chianina breed.
For over a week, the town will come alive with taverns, street food, DJ sets, tastings and initiatives dedicated to the flavours of Tuscan tradition. The Osteria della Chianina will take centre stage at Parco Villa Olda, whilst the Giardini C. Grazi will host musical events and food areas.
Among the most eagerly awaited events:
- the “Biggest Steak” competition;
- the butchers’ challenge;
- masterclasses on extra virgin olive oil and Prosecco;
- the Gala Dinner on 4 June;
- “Open Stables” guided tours;
- re-enactments of a peasant wedding and performances by the Butteri maremmani.
There will also be plenty of sporting and outdoor activities, including vintage car and motorbike rallies, gravel and long-distance cycling events, nature walks and children’s workshops focusing on rural traditions.
