Marostica Cherry Festival

The Marostica Cherry Festival returns from 31 May to 2 June 2026 in the heart of Marostica, celebrating one of the region’s most iconic products: the prized Marostica Cherry (PGI). An unmissable event blending flavour, tradition and history, set in the picturesque Piazza Castello.

This event has its roots in a long agricultural and historical tradition dating back as far as the 15th century, when – according to legend – following the famous Chess Match of 1454, cherry trees were planted throughout the region as a symbol of peace and prosperity. Even today, this link between history and nature lives on in the festival and local culture.

During the event, visitors can taste and purchase the finest varieties of cherries, the stars of the historic provincial exhibition that recognises the best producers and the various cultivars. There is no shortage of markets, food stalls, entertainment and activities for all ages.

The festival is enriched by scenic walks through the hills, excursions along the ‘Strada delle Ciliegie’ (Cherry Road) and traditional events, such as the selection of the young women who will portray the historical figures in the famous Chess Match.
