Varzi in Fiera

Varzi in Fiera is one of the most eagerly awaited events in the Oltrepò Pavese region, a day of celebration honouring the traditions, flavours and identity of the area. The 2026 edition, the 29th, will take place on 1 May in the historic village of Varzi, which comes alive for the occasion with markets, performances and activities for all ages.

During the event, the streets of the ancient medieval centre fill with stalls, scents and colours, creating a large market exhibition dedicated to local specialities and products of excellence. Between tastings and food stalls, visitors can discover the authentic flavours of the region, with traditional specialities from the Oltrepò Pavese prepared according to local recipes.

The festival is also a time for gathering and rediscovering folk traditions. There is no shortage of folk music, equestrian shows and animals at the fair, elements that evoke the ancient agricultural fairs which have always characterised the history of the village.

Throughout the day, activities are organised for families and children, featuring traditional games, a children’s area and a ‘saddle baptism’, allowing visitors to enjoy an engaging experience blending rural culture and fun.

During Varzi in Fiera, visitors can also explore the monuments and churches open to the public, discovering the village’s historical and artistic heritage, whilst the food court run by the Pro Loco offers traditional dishes from the Varzi region.
