Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art at Susa

The Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art adjacent to the Church of the Madonna del Ponte di Susa, hosts art objects more precious and significant belonging to the Treasury of the Cathedral of San Giusto and the Treasure of the Church of the Madonna del Ponte, flanked by jewelry, from wooden statuary, by the vestments and paintings from various areas of the Valle di Susa.

Among the exhibits are particularly worthy of note a casket reliquary of Longobard Age (VII century); the picchiotti bronze portal of the abbey of San Giusto (1130 a.c.); the processional cross of Johannes Bos, said Carlo Magno 1360/70 (ac); the triptych of the Madonna del Rocciamelone (1358); the wooden statue of the Madonna del Ponte (mid XII century), the Madonna with Child from Villar Focchiardo (early 13th century); the table portraying the immaculate (1510-20).

Next to ancient works coexist paintings and statues created by contemporary artists such as Tino Aime, Anna Branciari, Lia Laterza, Tabusso Francesco, Sergio Unia, Franconian Luciano, Franco Rey. Regularly are prepared, on the premises of the Museum, thematic exhibitions. The groups are accompanied by expert personnel, so as to allow the correct reading religious and historic-artistic objects exposed.
