Amazas is a characteristic mountain hamlet in the municipality of Oulx, located at an altitude of 1,180 meters on the left side of the Dora di Cesana. It can be reached by diverting from State Road 24 of Montgenevre and crossing a bridge that leads to the heart of the hamlet, set in a striking alpine landscape.
Together with the nearby hamlets of Soubras and Vazon, Amazas forms the Adrèi, the ancient “indiritto,” or set of communities historically united by common customs and organization.
The stone houses, with wooden roofs and balconies, preserve intact the authentic mountain architecture. Among the most significant buildings is the old community oven, which can still be visited, a symbol of rural life and solidarity among the inhabitants. At the center of the hamlet stands the small 17th-century church dedicated to St. Andrew, a testimony to local faith and traditions.
Amazas is a place that fascinates because of its simplicity, the unspoiled beauty of the landscape and the deep connection with Alpine history.
