Devil’s Bridge

The Devil’s Bridge, located in Civita, is an imposing stone structure that rises 260 meters above sea level above the Raganello River. Built in medieval times and rebuilt in 1840, the bridge is famous for its unique donkey arch and is a masterpiece of engineering. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, it is one of the major attractions of the Pollino National Park.
Legend has it that the bridge was built in a single night through a pact with the devil, but the cleverness of a peasant saved his soul. Today, the bridge is not only a crossing point, but also a prime viewing spot from which to admire the surrounding natural beauty.
