Entirely covered in red stone, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta represents one of the most ancient and illustrious churches of Trentino, built by the prince-bishop Bernardo Clesio in the 16th century on the foundations of previous Romanesque and early Christian churches.
Inside the church, the Bonatti Organ is particularly important: it is the result of an overall 18th century restoration by the Lombard organ builder Giuseppe Bonatti from Desenzano, this organ was already working and very appreciated in the 17th century. Bonatti inserted his organ in the beautiful pre-existing wooden case, as if to indicate a continuity, even in the innovation, of the instrument and of its phonic characteristics.
