Monastery of Santa Chiara

The Monastery of Santa Chiara of the village of Casamassima, in Puglia, founded in 1573, was originally an orphanage. A century later, in 1660, became a monastery of Poor Clares, taking the name that still today distinguishes it. In the course of 1900 was also used as a prison, and then again as a school – the elderly still identify it as the place in which they are situated ‘schools old’ – and theater. Currently it is affected by an ambitious requalification project aimed at making a museum and a suitable place for students.
