The Cultural Association “Casa Frezza APS” was founded in Castel del Giudice in 2023 thanks to the initiative of a group of young people who returned to their home town after their university studies, with the aim of transforming knowledge and culture into tools for social inclusion and regeneration. Chaired by Luciana Petrocelli, city councilwoman and researcher at the (re)Generation Center, the association found support in the city administration led by Mayor Lino Gentile and in the design of engineer Rosita Levrieri, who oversaw the redevelopment of the building donated by the Frezza family.
Casa Frezza is based on two central axes: inclusion and integration, offering educational programs aimed at bridging inequalities and combating educational poverty. Activities range from after-school programs for elementary school children to language classes, tutoring, summer schools, creative workshops and study support for students of all grades up to university. Special attention is paid to foreign children, with Italian L2 courses, support for integration and recognition of qualifications, as well as computer literacy courses.
Alongside its educational offerings, the association promotes a lively cultural activity: from the RadicalMente literary review to conferences, book presentations, philosophy workshops for children, music, dance, writing and expressive arts. Casa Frezza is also a library, newspaper library and smart working space, a true community laboratory where ideas, talents and participation are cultivated.
In the panorama of Italy’s inland areas, Casa Frezza represents a model of territorial regeneration: a center that transforms the problem of depopulation into an opportunity, attracting new inhabitants and defending the right to live or return to live in the villages, in a context of authentic territorial equity.
