Church of the Immaculate Conception

The Church of the Immaculate Conception stands on a hillock located 250 meters above sea level from which there is a magnificent panorama, so the view can sweep along the entire Gulf of Squillace, from Punta Le Castella to Punta Stilo on the Ionian coast of Calabria.
Begun in 1686, it features a granite portal attributed to stonemasons from Serra San Bruno.
Inside, decorative and stylistic elements of great artistic value stand out, among them the high altar made of white marble with polychrome decorations and the majolica floor with daisy designs.
Another valuable element are the silver pieces made by Neapolitan artists, including a chalice, a monstrance, and the finely crafted tip of the prior’s mace. In the outer wall of the apse a majolica panel dating from the 19th century and made in Squillace depicts the Immaculate Madonna.
