Baceno is a charming village, not far from Domodossola, located in the Antigorio Valley. The entire valley is accesible on the paths and mule tracks that go beyond the Alpine passes of Switzerland, along the transit routes traced by the ancient inhabitants and used for millennia.
The peaceful rural and wooded landscape of the picturesque hamlets accompanies the ascent along the hamlet of Croveo, famous for the numerous witchcraft trials that led to the stake mostly women and some men between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, up to the spectacular basin of Alpe Devero where the Veglia Devero Natural Park is located, created with the aim of preserving the richness of flora and fauna and the delicate and harmonious balance between man and nature.
One of the historical monuments of great importance is the church of San Gaudenzio, dating back to the 13th century, built in Romanesque-Gothic style, which offers a good starting point for a walk through the Orridi di Uriezzo, a complex of gorges in the Antigorio Valley.
