About the village

Predazzo (Pardàc in predazzano dialect, big meadow) is considered the Geologic garden of the Alps, because it has the highest concentration of geological variety in the world. Especially in the area of "Canzòncoli", where the contact between the sedimentary and volcanic rocks, are products of singular phenomena of crystallization. The territory is rich in history, tradition and culture. In the central square you can visit the Geological Museum of the Dolomites to admire an extraordinary collection of rocks, minerals and fossils, but also scientific publications that testify to the studies on the formation of the Dolomites. The historical center, dominated by the neogothic church of Saints Filippo and Giacomo (built in 1870), retains many old houses, some of which are decorated with frescoes. The oldest church is that of S. Nicolò that dates back to the Sixteenth Century.

Between the flat walks around the country, is very suggestive that leads to the ravine of Sottosassa, where you can admire the waterfalls of the Travignolo under the walls porfiriche equipped for sports climbing. Following the Valmaggiore, meets the forest that sounds, where the resonance firs were "baptized" by musicians of international fame. Walking along the geological trail of Doss Capèl, between Passo Feudo and the Alpe di Pampeago (2.000-2.200 m. slm.) meet beaches and seabeds, seashells and sea stars who lived before the dinosaurs, but also lave, ash and lapillus of the ancient volcano of Predazzo. Represents a point of reference for the hikers who s the forward in the territory of the Dolomites, Pale di San Martino, the Latemar, Rosengarten. From the country depart walks to suit all legs, like the one that leads to the ravine of Sottosassa, where you can admire the waterfalls of the Travignolo, under the walls porfiriche equipped for sports climbing.

Predazzo is also an important tourist resort in every season of the year, with a public swimming pool and equipped ski lifts that lead into the carousel of the Ski Center Latemar and in the Ski Area Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia. In addition to be crossed of the track from the bottom of the Marcialonga, is the seat of the stage of the jump on skis. The famous trampolines of the stage of the jump from the Well of Predazzo have hosted three times the Nordic Ski World Championship. The famous track from the bottom of the Marcialonga in summer turns into a long cycle track flat, from which depart the trails for mountain biking and scenic tours for cycling.

In the direction of Passo Rolle-San Martino di Castrozza, at 6 km from Predazzo, lies the small village of Bellamonte, place of summer holiday and winter sports, in a beautiful position, dominated by the peaks of Colbricòn, Cece, and Pale di San Martino. Scattered in the meadows are numerous typical wooden houses, known as "Tabià Bellamonte". The location is a good starting point for excursions to the top of Lusia and other peaks of the Lagorai chain.

From the blog

It is an ancient tradition, that of strangolapreti alla trentina, which dates back to the time of the Council of Trent. Centuries later, the strangolapreti are still in vogue on the tables of the region: an icon of taste, created once with what available in the kitchen, which has now become a prime delicacy. Tasty dumplings of bread and spinach that you can prepare in advance and store in the refrigerator, ideal during the summer to always have a ready dish - to cook, of course - and delicious. If desired, the strangolapreti can also be f...
