About the village

Tires (Tiers in German) is attested by 1080 and derives from the latin land. It then became in German via dittongazione. The shape italianizzata "Tiers" was introduced by Ettore Tolomei.

The first human settlements date back to antiquity, but the community begins to take shape in a manner more recognizable during the Middle Ages, with the acquisition of a political, social and economic order. The further development will then astride of the XIX and XX century, with the discovery of the Dolomites as a tourist destination and the consequent inflow of italian and foreign visitors.

The church of San Cipriano is a building of the late-Romanesque decorated on the outside on one of the walls, by paintings of the Seventeenth Century. The church of San Giorgio, seat of the parish, located in the cemetery. The current building is the result of a reconstruction of 1711, when it was changed into a baroque building. The primitive construction went back instead to the Fourteenth Century, and preserves an altar and a Crucifixion in wood. Notable among the civil buildings is the water mill.

Tires for his attention to promote sustainable tourism and soft mobility is part of the Consortium of the Pearls of the Alps.

Often the small mountain resorts are picturesque, especially if they are part of a common that extends at the foot of the famous Catinaccio, in the legendary reign of King Laurin. As the legend says, at sunrise and at sunset, the wonderful Rosengarten is tinged with pink, the phenomenon of the enrosadira.

From the blog

The typical cuisine of the villages of Trentino is very interesting and above all varied thanks to the influences of Venetian and South Tyrolean cuisine. The gastronomic products are many and all extraordinary, with very interesting curiosities and typical local products. Often the dishes are very well known but it is there that they are made according to traditional recipes handed down from mother to daughter. Basically, the cuisine is very simple, which does not mean that it is not tasty or light. The products are rather those of the te...
