Calabria is a region waiting to be discovered, which has much to offer in terms of landscape and history. Cradle of Magna Graecia and watershed between the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas, Calabria boasts rocky and sandy coastlines and wild nature on its mountainous back, where numerous villages of ancient origins lie, such as Badolato, Santa Severina, Oriolo and Cleto. On the western coast is Tropea, a world-famous seaside resort thanks to the beautiful Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola, situated on a picturesque promontory. The climate, typically Mediterranean, ensures mild temperatures for much of the year. And on the tables of the Calabrians, there is no shortage of chilli peppers, which make the flavours of local dishes spicy and inviting.
