About this hotel

Opened in 1930 by Raffaele Ferraioli to coincide with the inauguration of the new (rolling road) Amalfi-Agerola, the Hostaria at that time was only a wine bar with a few good dishes for those who came up from the coast to Agerola. In 1948 among those paths of lanes and stairs came Anna Magnani and Roberto Rossellini, to shoot the film L’amore. To Nannarella the cook Erminia dedicated ferrazzuoli, the actress’s favorite dish when she took refuge in Furore during her tormented love affair with the director in the mid-1940s. Four generations have passed, and the Hostaria has evolved and modernized, remaining faithful to the original spirit of Mediterranean architecture.

The Restaurant
Among the vegetable gardens and vineyards, the restaurant is a triumph of local flavors: homemade pasta, squid, anchovies, potatoes and vegetables. Another not-to-be-missed recipe of Erminia’s is linguine with colatura d’alici, a descendant of the garum of the ancient Romans and now a Slow Food Presidium, and selected as a “Buon Ricordo” dish by the Union founded back in 1964 with the aim of restoring notoriety and prestige to the many local expressions of Italy’s gastronomic tradition.

To bring a bit of Furore to one’s table, one can take cooking classes from the restaurant’s chefs. Finally, the hotel: with its “blessed terraces, bastions of ecstatic contemplation, where you sit and watch the sea and, in summer, towards evening you wait for the first breeze” offers you warm and enveloping hospitality.
