Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art

What to see in Volterra, Pisa, Tuscany

The Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art is located inside the Church of Sant'Agostino, in Volterra. In addition to the original furnishings of the Church, the exhibition brings together works from the Cathedral of Volterra and other churches in the Diocese including paintings, reliquaries, furniture and furnishings.

Inaugurated on 30 June 2017, the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art in the Church of Sant'Agostino was created thanks to the testamentary legacy of Mrs Franca Paoletti Adamo, as the plaque on the right-hand wall reminds us.
The original furnishings of the church, deliberately unaltered, and the history of the works on display are illustrated on the panels and multimedia stations in the introductory area.
