Ethnographic Museum

What to see in Castiglione di Garfagnana, Lucca, Tuscany

the creation of the ethnographic museum of San Pellegrino in Alpe is due to the patient and tireless work of Don Luigi Pellegrini who wanted to bear witness to the important tradition of rural civilization of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The ethnographic museum has found a place in the halls of the millennium Hospital and its inlet is located below the stasso voltone which also sees the entrance of the sanctuary.

The museum, divided into 14 rooms which all represent the environments of domestic life and not, collects objects that cover a period of time that goes from the XIX century to today; however those same objects were in common use for several centuries in the Apennine ridge and immerse yourself in those environments means experiencing a jump back in time , by recovering the memory of a civilization that would have been otherwise irretrievably lost.
