the Mother Church of Santa Croce is located in the heart of the historic center of the village, in Piazza Umberto I, on the ruins of the ancient church of S. Cross or S. John in Piazza. Its construction was begun in 1569 by Baron Carlo Gambacorta Giampaolo, feudatory of the earth of Celenza and first Marquis of this land for benevolence of Philip II, was then inaugurated in 1573. Among the works of art in it preserved you can admire some paintings such as the recruitment of B. Brunetti of 1656 and the San Giorgio of Sicilian, and wooden sculptures such as the San Giuseppe col Bambino by G. Colombo of 1702 and the San Giovanni Battista and the Immaculate Conception of the Neapolitan school. Of particular value are also the balustrade and the baptismal font in stone local bearing of the XVI century.
