Strawberry Festival 2025

In the heart of the Castelli Romani, the picturesque village of Nemi is preparing to celebrate a historic milestone: the 100th Strawberry Festival and Flower Show, scheduled for Sunday, June 1 and Monday, June 2, 2025. A centennial event that combines flavors, legends, folklore and natural beauty in one of Italy’s most charming villages.

The undisputed protagonist is her: the wild strawberry, a symbol of the area and linked to an ancient legend that tells how she was born from the tears of the goddess Venus, shed for the death of Adonis, then transformed into small red and fragrant hearts, capable – it is said – even of warding off the snakes of the woods.

Among the most anticipated moments is the striking historical parade of the Fragolare, the women of Nemi who wear the traditional costume of the village: red skirt, black corset, white blouse and lace mandrucella. Accompanied by folk music and folkloric dances, the Fragolare pay homage to the village’s peasant roots by carrying baskets filled with strawberries and giving them away for free to visitors, as per tradition.

The 2025 edition has an even more special significance: Nemi is Italian Wine City 2025 and also boasts the prestigious Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club, an award to welcoming villages of tourism excellence.
