Palio del Mare 2025

On Saturday, May 31, 2025, Gaeta will once again breathe in the salty scent of ancient competition with the Palio del Mare, now in its third edition. The setting is the evocative waters in front of Largo Generale Bonelli and Piazzale Caboto, which for one day will be transformed into a liquid arena of strength, rhythm and tradition.

This regatta is not just a race, but a true tribute to Gaeta’s seafaring culture. Protagonists of the challenge will be 10-oar spears, each led by 10 rowers and a coxswain, with a special feature: the crews must be mixed, with a maximum of six men per boat, in the sign of inclusion and teamwork.

The race format includes two time trial heats between two spears at a time, with access to the second heat reserved for the crews with the best times. The final ranking will be determined by the sum of the times obtained in the individual heats. At the end, space will be made for the awarding of prizes to the top three crews, who will stand on the podium amid applause and flag waving.

Supervising the regularity of the competition will be an official jury, composed of two judges appointed by the organizing committee, as a guarantee of fairness and sportsmanship.

The Palio del Mare 2025 promises to be an engaging and emotionally charged event, capable of making the hearts of those who love the sea, history and authentic competition vibrate. An event not to be missed, where the passion for rowing is intertwined with the charm of Gaeta and its traditions.
