Lirica in Piazza in Massa Marittima

From August 3 to 5, the extraordinary setting of Piazza Garibaldi in Massa Marittima is transformed into a fascinating open-air theater to host Lirica in Piazza, one of the most iconic opera events of the Tuscan summer. The event, now more than 30 years old, is a perfect blend of art, innovation and architectural beauty.

Created in 1986 to enhance the extraordinary “natural stage” of the historic center – with the churchyard of the Cathedral of San Cerbone as a scenic backdrop – the festival stands out for the quality of its productions and its ability to blend operatic tradition and visual experimentation.

In recent years, thanks to the artistic direction of Maestro Leonardo Quadrini and the production of MusicaInsieme and Bucaneve, the event has been able to renew itself with:

-Special lighting effects and multimedia projections.
-Original scenery designed for urban space.
-A musical proposal spanning the great opera classics.
