Grandma’s Sandwich Festival 2025

One of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the Apulian summer is back on time again this year: the Sagra del Panino della Nonna (Grandma’s Sandwich Festival), scheduled for Aug. 11 and 12 in Giovinazzo’s charming Piazzale Salvo D’Acquisto. Two evenings dedicated to taste, music and solidarity, for an event that for twenty-eight years has been enhancing the culinary traditions of the area with enthusiasm and a spirit of sharing.
The traditional sandwich
The absolute star is the “grandmother’s sandwich,” an emblem of Apulian home cooking, filled with ingredients that tell family stories and local identities. From tomatoes in oil to eggplant, from frittata to artichokes, to turnip greens, anchovies, mortadella and more. Among the most beloved:
-the parmigiana sandwich
-the sandwich with brasciola
-the legendary “‘n picc d tutt,” an unmissable mix of Apulian flavors
Gluten-free variants also available, so no one is left high and dry.
Music, entertainment and fun
The 2025 program is packed with entertainment for all ages:
–Monday, Aug. 11: Guaranteed laughs with comedian Daniele Condotta, followed by the band Skanderground, between ska, reggae and folk.
–Tuesday, Aug. 12: On stage the Ceralacca Band, and to close in beauty DJ Fargetta, icon of Italian dance music, ready to make the whole square dance.
Solidarity at the center
As per tradition, the entire proceeds will be donated to charity in support of social projects. A concrete gesture that has always characterized the efforts of the organizing association “I Nipoti della Nonna OdV,” the beating heart of the event.
Two days not to be missed, between authentic taste and overwhelming music. In Giovinazzo, the sandwich becomes a legend.
The event is finished.
