Ferie delle Messi 2025

From June 13 to 15, the streets and squares of San Gimignano are transformed into a lively medieval village for the Ferie delle Messi, a spectacular historical reenactment celebrating the town’s ancient agricultural and chivalric traditions.

During the three-day festival, the village comes alive with period stalls, medieval arts and crafts, and performances by musicians, jesters, storytellers and thespians. The heart of the event is the challenge between the four historical contrade: Castello, Piazza, San Matteo and San Giovanni.

Saturday afternoon sees the presentation of the riders and horses that will represent the contrade in the famous Joust of the Sticks. Sunday morning sees the blessing of the horses in Piazza del Duomo, followed by the contrade parade. The grand finale is in the afternoon, with the historical parade in medieval costumes and the knightly tournament, where dexterity and honor face off in one of the most anticipated events of the Tuscan summer.
