Bobbio Film Festival

Every summer, the charming village of Bobbio turns into a crossroads of culture, art, and passion for cinema thanks to the Bobbio Film Festival, one of the most prestigious events on the Italian scene, created in 1995 by the famous director Marco Bellocchio, a native of the village.

The 2025 edition will be held from August 2 to 9 in the splendid cloister of the Abbey of San Colombano, with a program of evening screenings at 9:15 p.m., followed by meetings and debates with directors, actors, producers, and critics. The post-film dialogue is the distinctive feature of the festival: a public conversation, often led by Bellocchio himself, which actively involves the audience and enriches the cinematic experience.

The festival is part of the wider Fare Cinema project, which includes workshops on directing, criticism, and screenwriting aimed at young aspiring filmmakers. This educational opportunity complements the artistic program, making Bobbio a veritable open-air cultural laboratory.

Over the years, the event has welcomed distinguished figures from Italian and international cinema, such as Paolo Sorrentino, Matteo Garrone, Mario Monicelli, Abel Ferrara, and Carlo Verdone, as well as prominent critics such as Morando Morandini and Tatti Sanguineti. The festival stage has been graced by renowned actors including Elio Germano, Valeria Golino, Isabella Ferrari, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Stefania Sandrelli.
