Originally conceived as a country church, it was rebuilt in masonry in 1819, replacing the previous one-room structure. The building was expanded with the addition of two bell towers and aisles, while the facade was enriched with granite elements from the ancient Certosa di Serra.

The facade, characterized by a neoclassical style, is divided into two floors and features a central portal, bell windows, and a rose window housing a mechanical clock. Inside, the church features a majestic nave, flanked by two side aisles and adorned with nine altars, each dedicated to different sacred figures. The chancel is surmounted by a triumphal arch decorated with stucco angels, while an imposing altar houses a statue of the Virgin of the Assumption.

Among the church’s special features is the monumental organ located in the counterfacade, with a beautifully decorated balcony. The stained glass windows depict biblical scenes and figures of saints, contributing to a mystical atmosphere. The church is also home to the parish and the Confraternity of Our Lady of the Assumption, active since 1873, which celebrates religious traditions, including the “coronella,” a special mass for the brethren.

Discover the Church of Maria SS Assunta in Cielo in Spinetto, in Serra San Bruno: an architectural jewel with unique frescoes, altars and religious traditions.

[160863
76121,76126
30159
post-337597","what-to-see","type-what-to-see","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","village-conntection-serra-san-bruno-it","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-calabria-en","what-to-see-region-and-provinces-vibo-valentia-en","what-to-see-category-place-of-cult
["GET
