Over the centuries, the building was altered and extended on several occasions; following major work in the 16th century, it was reconsecrated in 1520 by the Bishop of Piacenza, Pietro de Reconda.<\/p>\n<p>The current fa\u00e7ade, however, dates back to the 18th century, when it was built over the original structure. The building underwent further restoration on the occasion of the Jubilee in 2000, which helped to preserve its historical features.<\/p>\n<p>Inside, in the apse, there is a large early 17th-century altarpiece in finely carved gilded wood.
