In the center of the village of Petricci, the main Church stands out between two picturesque streets that lead, on one side to the cemetery and on the other to the Caese district.<\/p>\n
The Church complex, renovated and expanded from its original structure, offers a balance of faith and history. During the works, the Church \u00e8 was placed all on the left side, while the Rectory \u00e8 was moved to the right side. On Sept. 22, 1979, the Church was consecrated, becoming a new religious landmark for the village.<\/p>\n
Externally, the fa\u00e7ade with a door and window larger in size than the eighteenth-century building, but in a similar style, stands out. Inside, the square architecture \u00e8 divided into three naves, separated by six concrete columns. The floor made of travertine slabs covers an area of 182 square meters, while the concrete ceiling alternates between sloping sections in the nave and flat sections in the side aisles.<\/p>\n
The only remaining element of the earlier construction \u00e8 the travertine stoup. Another point of interest \u00e8 the bell tower, with its 25 meters in height. It houses a public clock and three bells, two of which were cast in 1881 and dedicated to St. Joseph and Our Lady of Grace, and the third dedicated to St. Mamilian and St. Gregory VII.<\/p>\n
The bell tower is also a bell tower.<\/p>\n
A curious detail \u00e8 the walled alabaster on the south-facing cornice of the bell tower, with the letters ‘MGB’ engraved on it. Its mysterious origin has led the residents of Petricci to nickname it the ‘Guardian of Petricci’.<\/p>\n
