This ancient palace was built in the late 13th century and early 14th century and is one of the main examples of the manifest architecture of Italian medieval towns. It is positioned in the charming main square, Piazza del Municipio, where other important historic buildings such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-borghi.com\/en\/what-to-see\/the-collegiate-church-of-santa-maria-assunta-at-castellarquato\/\"><strong>Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta<\/strong><\/a> and the Palazzo del Duca can also be found.<\/p>\n<p>The Palazzo del Podest\u00e0 is an imposing sandstone building that is characterized by its facade with a double-arched loggia and a series of elegant mullioned windows with two lights, characteristic of stately homes of the period. The original function of the palace was to house the representative of the local authority, the Podest\u00e0 precisely, and its administrative and judicial activities.<\/p>\n<p>The interior of the Palazzo del Podest\u00e0 now houses a museum, the Museo Civico Archeologico e della Collegiata, which includes a collection of archaeological artifacts, artistic artifacts and historical evidence concerning the history of Castell&#8217;Arquato and the surrounding territories.
