The millenary village of Castel di Guido is embellished by the oasis of the same name managed by the LIPU (Italian Society for the Protection of Birds): the green area of about 250 hectares is crossed by the river Aniene and is characterised by the presence of uncontaminated and varied landscapes, where meadows, hills, woods, pastures and a pond populated by tree frogs and emerald toads alternate.<\/p>\n
The Castel di Guido Oasis, created in 1999, is home to numerous species of fauna such as hares, foxes, wolves, wild boar, badgers and Herman’s tortoise. Birdwatchers will enjoy spotting some of the 160 species of birds, from black kites to bee-eaters, shrikes and red kites.<\/p>\n
The symbol of the park, in addition to swallows and swifts, are swallows: by feeding on insects, they contribute to the health of the area and the animals that live there, preventing the proliferation of bacteria.
Four types of paths of varying difficulty and length will allow visitors to discover the natural beauty of the park, walking in the shade of cork, oak and turkey oaks.<\/p>\n
